To reduce the chance of car theft, most cars built after 1995 are fitted out with factory fitted immobilisers and now the majority of manufacturers are using transponder technology.

Transponder key programming operates by a microchip housed in the key. The microchip has a unique serial number and, if the car doesn’t recognise the serial number, the car won’t start.

Ian has been working with transponder keys ever since they first came onto the market in South East Queensland and he can get you out of trouble fast!
